The Taj Mahal truly has to be the most tasteful and amazing Indian restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating in and ordering a takeaway. The tastes are so authentic and different to anything I have ever tasted. No other Indian restaurant compares to this and that is why I keep going back, almost once a week. The downside to that is it does not help with the pocket! Murad and his staff also make for a great dining experience. 10 out of 10!

My colleagues and I eat at the Taj Mahal every time we are in Stevenage for work. We always have the wonderful lamb bakara, this is a delicious curry, one of the best we have ever had out of the many that we have tried and we travel all over the country. We enjoy this dish so much that the three of us are attempting to replicate the recipe so that we can have this dish at home. If you are in Stevenage, try the Taj Mahal - lamb bakara, you cannot go wrong. The waiters are very friendly and the service is great, they even gave me extra chocolates when I asked for them. Brilliant!

We had a very great time there, fantastic food and first class service. You will love it there. The food is the best you can get in an Indian restaurant, even if you have never tried Indian food, you will feel at home. The members of staff are very friendly; they do take care of you and pay attention. One look and one of them is standing next to you immediately. A must go restaurant.

The food is always excellent... MY boyfriend and I refuse to go anywhere else and they're so considerate of me as I am a very fussy vegetarian. I've never been dissapointed :) 4/5 stars without a doubt !! :)

We have been searching for a really good Indian since our usual haunt closed some time ago - we were recommended to the Taj Mahal by friends and to our surpirse found some of the waiters from our previous restaurant here, now this will be our regular curry house as not only was the food superb - we can be sure of a good service by our usual waiters - on that note we've just ordered tonights curry! yum yum!

I have eaten several times at the Taj in Stevenage and it is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in the area. The food is always fresh and tasty and the service is normally really good. The menu is always varied, which means that you can try different dishes, which to me is essential as part of a dining experience.

The food is excellent and cooked very well my favourite dish from the takeaway is The chicken Rogan. The chicken Rogan is probally one of the best Rogan's i have ever had! I would rate the food: 10 out of 10

Superb dinner last night. First of all I was impressed with how many people dined on a weeknight, this was an indication of how popular the place is with Stevenage folk. It became apparent why when the food was served up- very vibrant and varied flavours, generous portions, and many new dishes to try along with the old favourites. Keep up the good work, and curry on up the Taj.

I had my first takeaway from the Taj Mahal ordering onion bhajee, Chicken Tikka Bakara anbd Aloo Channa... i have to say i was extremely disappointed with the onion bhagee as it was stone cold (despite coming in an insulated bag) and went all rubbery when i tried to re-heat. However my dismay changed to delight as the Aloo Channa was exceptional and i cannot recommend this highly enough, it was absolutely devine and will be ordered again and again.... Chicken Tikka Bakara comes with the HOT symbol and it delivers what it says it is HOT!! but again devine - to be ordered if like me you like your curry HOT but full of flavour. Delivery was within the timescale given on the phone, the price was exactly what was quoted and the portion sizes are very generous... i was surprised though that rice was not included with the main dish, but to counteract that you did get a salad and two papadoms free of charge, so that is a minor complaint. Without a doubt Taj Mahal will be getting all my orders for takeaways in the future and i will recommend to anyone and everyone - i just hope my experience with the onion bhajee was a "one off"

Best indian i have ever been to. Good atmosphere and excellent service. Would recommend it to anyone

The Taj is quite simply the best Indian Restaurant in Stevenage. There are others in the High Street. Some eat in and some just Take Away but none can compete with the friendlyness and food quality of the Taj.

This is a great restaurant. Full of atmosphere and has a wide variety on the menu. The staff are always very accomodating for fussy eaters and the service is exceptional. I really like this restaurant as it is full of charm and I would not consider going anywhere else. Why should I if I know im going to get a great meal and service each time I visit.

We recently had a takeaway delivered from your restaurant and it was the best Indian food I have tasted in a long time. The flavours were amazing and I especially enjoyed the onion bhajee.

General comments: My friend and I have been coming to the Taj Mahal, Stevenage on average once every couple of months for the last 2 years. The newly updated menu is fantastic and offers an excellent range of food . It is tasty and top quality. I would recommend the Taj to anyone who wants a tasty indian meal in a comfortable environment with a friendly welcoming team of staff.

I visited the Taj Mahal for the first time in December with a company of young people. The food was lovely, with very generous helpings, and the service was outstanding and first class!!! So much so, that I have booked the restaurant for a group of 35, family and friends for an evening in February, and I can't wait!!! Thank you Taj. See you soon!!

I do a lot of travelling and the thing I miss the most is the Taj. In my opinion it's the best Indian in Hertfordshire and maybe one of the best in the UK.

A fantastic place to eat with friends and family. excellent food. first class friendly service. without a doubt the best indian in stevenage and the surrounding area. The proof is in the tasting.......

Mr Lead of Chester Road, Stevenage.

Great food, good service. This is my local, and have been eating here and having take aways for years. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone. Its not a place for beered up lads out for a vindy though. The chefs specials are great, as they are often adding new dishes to the mix, and you get the oppurtunity to try more than the usual vindy/madras/korma/biryani dishes, and try some quite exotic (an almost unpronouncable) dishes.

Fantastic Food and Service. Indian food is one of our favorites and the Taj Mahal had some of the best we've ever had. The menu has the largest choice of dishes from all areas of India we've seen. We walked in around 2:30 and had great service. We were the only diners in the restaurant but didn't think anything of it since it was late for lunch. Since the door was open, we didn't think to check if they were open and no one mentioned they normally close between lunch and dinner. The only disappointment was the nan oven wasn't up to heat but they made up another type of bread out of chick pea flour for us. The prices at restaurants in the UK were quite a shock (about double what they are in the US) and the Taj Mahal wasn't an exception. Plan to spend 30 - 40 pounds for 2 if you want 2 entrées, nan, rice, and drinks. However, the portions are large and prices were less than some of the restaurants we ate in. My husband likes VERY HOT food so had the lamb vindaloo which lived up to its description. I had the lamb Madras which is a little milder but still very spicy. Try one of the Curries if you don't like hot food.

With 3 other Indian restaurants on the main street, there's a lot of competition; however we had no interest in trying another one and went back for dinner the next night. Since we eat early, we didn't ask if they take reservations but by 7 all the tables were full. The chocolate square that comes with the check was just right for dessert

Quality food, attentive service. This is has been my favourite local restaurant for some time. The food has proved to be consistently excellent with the service to match. I would recommend the Taj Mahal to groups or couples as there is plenty of choice and you're always greeted by a friendly smile.

I newly discovered this place. Magnificent food and service. Consistently high standards of food compared to others in the same street. Good hygiene report from the council. Recommended.

Been using the Taj Mahal in Stevenage on and off since 1973 and I have always found it to be excellent everytime. What more can I say?

Having visited the Taj Mahal in Stevenage for the first time recently, I was very impressed, not only with the quality and the flavour of the food but also the service that they provide. I would recommend the Taj Mahal in Stevenage to anyone that likes Indian food.....and yes, if you order something that you expect to be hot and spicy, it is!
